Overview

The exams have been graded. There were 50 students who came to the exam. Here is an overview of the results.

== final grades ==

U: 8, 16%
G: 30, 60%
VG: 12, 24%

So, 84% passed. This is higher than last year.

Exam + Answers

You can download the exam here (pdf).

You can see some answers here. These I picked from your own solutions.

"Granskning"

If you wish to look at what happened during the grading, you can go to the Study Administration (4th floor, EDIT building). Go there after the beginning of week 45, since there are some administrative tasks we need to do before you can view your exams.

If you are not happy with the grading, and you think you deserve another grade, please follow the following rules:

1. Leave your exam papers at the study administration! You are allowed to take a copy home with you.

2. E-mail me (koen#chalmers.se) with the following information:

(a) In which assignment did I make a mistake in the grading according to you?

(b) What should have been the correct decision, and why?

Important: Only do this if you have a concrete issue with a concrete assignment, and if this will actually affect your grade!.

3. Do all this before November 30, 2016.

If you just have questions about the exam answers, but you do not want to change your grade, please leave a message at the course forum.

Statistics

Here are some fun statistics for this exam.

First, an analysis for each assignment separately.

== point distribution per assignment ==

                     | 0p | 1p | 2p | avg.
---------------------+----+----+----+-----
1. logic | 5 | 3 | 42 | 1.74
2. strong induction | 16 | 18 | 16 | 1.00
3. diophantine | 2 | 12 | 36 | 1.68
4. congruence | 25 | 10 | 15 | 0.80
5. struct. induction | 4 | 42 | 4 | 1.00
6. graph | 17 | 18 | 15 | 0.96
7. combinatorics | 8 | 11 | 31 | 1.46

We can see that 1, 3, and 7 were rather easy. 4 and 6 were considered the hardest.

Next, which questions were actually important for your final grade?

== positive predictors for pass ==

100% of students with >=1p on question 4 passed the exam
100% of students with >=2p on question 2 passed the exam
100% of students with >=2p on question 6 passed the exam
100% of students with >=2p on question 4 passed the exam
96% of students with >=2p on question 7 passed the exam
95% of students with >=1p on question 7 passed the exam

== negative predictors for fail ==

75% of students with <=0p on question 7 failed the exam
50% of students with <=0p on question 5 failed the exam
50% of students with <=0p on question 3 failed the exam

== positive predictors for VG ==

62% of students with >=2p on question 2 got a VG
50% of students with >=2p on question 5 got a VG
46% of students with >=2p on question 6 got a VG
46% of students with >=2p on question 4 got a VG

Note that question 1 does not appear anywhere in the above table, which seems to indicate that your performance on question 1 was not important for your final grade.

Question 7 was a very easy question (a bit too easy for my taste, I made an error in judgement). Still, it seemed to work quite well as a pass/fail indicator!
