A former PhD student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers who now works for AstraZeneca has asked me to share this with students with an interest in biotechnology/medicine.

AstraZeneca Innovative Medicines and Early Development Graduate Programme - Recruitment Intake for the Class of 2015

I wanted to let you know that the Innovative Medicines and Early Development Graduate Programme Is now open to applicants who want to be considered to join the programme in September 2015.

The IMED Graduate programme is a global initiative designed to provide high-calibre science graduate with s a two-year placement in the company, with the potential for long-term career development. The programme was launched in 2013 and we have now successfully recruited and on boarded 47 graduates on the programme across IMED and who are directly contributing to our science and projects across our core R&D Sites in the UK/US and Sweden.  The programme is very much focused on breath of experience and our graduates are encouraged to undertake broad scientific placements that will provide them with the solid foundations to be great scientists for the future.  Each graduate will be required to complete 3 eight month rotations as part of the programme and some may have the opportunity to complete one of these rotations overseas. Graduates are also provided with a mentor for the duration of the programme whose aim is to provide the career support and guidance to ensure that they are being developed to their full potential.

As well as developing the scientific skills and knowledge required for success our graduates are also enrolled onto the Global Graduate Development programme where we work with an external graduate training company to design and deliver a graduate programme that will also ensure they have the key interpersonal skills and the softer skills required to make the successful transition from academia to industry.  The 3 modules cover being successful in industry, the skills to be a great scientists and planning for the future.  The graduates complete 3 different modules as a global cohort on one of our R&D sites so also have the opportunity to learn more about the science and great facilities that we have on each of our sites too.

We are now looking to recruit a further 30 graduates to join us next year and we would therefore be grateful if you could distribute the attached brochure and application links and information to any students that you think would be interested in applying for these positions.  We have also attached a poster that you might wish to post in your local department/careers centre.
