News

2012-01-30 There will be an exam review at 11:30 to 12:00 on Wednesday 1 February 2012, in room 6128 in the EDIT building (floor 6).
2010-12-15 Solutions for the HT2011 exam are now on the exam information web page.
2011-12-13 Reminder: you are allowed to bring one A4 sheet with hand-written notes to the exam (see Exam Information). Exam time and place are publicised in the Student Portal. The exam is on Wednesday 14 December, 08:30-12:30 at Hörsalsvägen 5.
2011-12-06 There will not be a revision lecture on Wednesday 7 December. However, I shall be at the lab session and the exercise classes on Wednesday, and you are welcome to ask questions on any topic from the course on those occasions.
I recommend that all students who are ready to demonstrate Task 4 of the programming assignment should do so at one of the classes on Wednesday since the lab session on Friday could be very busy.
2011-12-05 I have had some requests to go over a past exam paper at a revision lecture. I won't be doing this. There are eight past papers on the course web site, and four of these have sample solutions. Some have remarked to me that those give solutions, but do not indicate the approach to take in solving the problems. However, getting practice in the approach to solving the problems has been the purpose of the exercise classes in this couse.
I plan to attend the exercise classes this week, and if there are particular questions from the past exam papers that you would like to discuss with me, you are welcome to take that opportunity.
2011-12-05 Currently I have no requests for items to be covered in a revision lecture on Wednesday 7 December. If there is something that you would like covered on Wednesday, please send an e-mail message to Graham Kemp with the subject "TDA357 Revision" before 17:00 on Tuesday 6 December. If no topics are requested, there will not be a revision session on Wednesday. Either way, I'll put a notice on this page on Tuesday evening stating whether there will be a revision class at 13:15 on Wednesday.
One topic that was requested, but not covered at the revision lecture today was "XML and XQuery". However, there will be opportunities to work on that topic and get feedback at the exercise classes this week (Exercises 6).
2011-11-26 The lecture on Monday 5 December 2011 will be a revision lecture. If there is enough demand, then there will be another revision lecture on Wednesday 7 December. I do not plan to introduce any new material on those days; I just plan to recap any topics that you request. If you would like a particular topic to be covered, please send an e-mail message to Graham Kemp with the subject "TDA357 Revision" before Saturday 3 December, and state whether you would like this topic to be covered on Monday or Wednesday (or whether both Monday or Wednesday would be OK for you). If you want a different perspective on some of the topics from the course, you can view some of the videos in Jennifer Widom's OpenClassroom Materials.
2011-11-28 I understand that the Fire system was down for part of the weekend and this morning. To compensate for any inconvenience this caused, and possible delays in getting feedback on Task 2, the final submission deadline for Task 2 has been extended until Wednesday 30 November.
2011-11-28 Some notes on using XPath and XQuery have been added to the site.
2011-11-23 Some minor changes have been made in the descriptions of Tasks 3 and 4 in the programming assignment. These are highlighted, and the date is written beside each change. These do not change the task, but should help you in writing and testing your solutions.
2011-11-16 If your Task 1 solution has not yet been approved, please have it checked either at the exercise class this afternoon or the lab session on Friday.
2011-10-27 Some of you might still be looking for a partner for the programming assignment. You can use the break during Monday's lecture to meet others who are also looking for a lab partner - use the area just outside the lecture room for this. Also, inform others of your availability as a lab partner at the exercise classes next week. In particular there are students from many programmes (some outside Computing Science), and several Erasmus students, who are taking this course, and who might not know many of the people in the class. Please meet each other, and consider working together.
2011-10-26 The programming assignment is now on-line. You can start working on task 1, but material that will be covered in lecture 3 (Monday 31 October) is needed to complete all parts of task 1.
