”Performance analysis of three RISC-based space-dedicated computers”
Abstract
Computers targeted for use in space forms a delicate group of systems. Besides high performance, aspects such as error detection capabilities, radiation resistance, small size and low power consumtion are of major importance. This report highlights the impact at the total system performance, when those aspects are higly considered. Six systems are designed around three different processors in two configurations. The first (minimum configuration) meets specification for an on-board space computer while the second (maximum configuration) attempts to show maximun performance.

This report was originally published as part of the European Space Agency ”RISC evaluation study, contract number 8686/89/NL/JG(SC)”, prepared by Saab-Space AB as ”Work Package 4, Evaluation of Processor Configurations, Part 1: Hardware Designs”.
