Computational methods in bioinformatics (2013-2014)

News

2014-02-05

Erik Kristiansson has recently announced a PhD position in sequence bioinformatics.

2014-01-09 All of the assignments have been marked and grades will be reported today or tomorrow. I'll type up my comments and send each of you feedback via the Fire system. No exam review session is planned, but if you have any questions I'll be happy to discuss the assignment results with you individually.
2013-12-11 Professor Arieh Warshel, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, will give a lecture on "Multiscale modelling of protein functions" on Monday 16 December at 10.00-12.00 in RunAn. It is necessary to register for this event.
2013-12-10 Practical 6 is available now.
2013-12-09 Some general comments on practical 3.
2013-12-04 Suggested test data and sample output for Practical 5 are available.
2013-11-29 Please let me know your preferred topic for Practical 4. I anticipate that some topics could be more popular than others, and I shall identify some additional papers for those topics so that there's an opportunity to prepare a presentation on an aritcle/method that nobody else is presenting. I'll list the preferences I've received so far on a local web page.
2013-11-20 Some notes on assessment criteria for written work have been added to the web site.
2013-11-18 Please read the article mentioned on the Practical 3 web page, and take the opportunity to ask questions about it at the class tomorrow.
2013-11-15 The next assignment task is to summarise the research article mentioned on the Practical 3 web page. I recommend that you start reading the article soon. There will be opportunities to ask questions about the article and the assignment task at the lecture sessions next week. You are also welcome to contact me by e-mail if you have any particular questions.
2013-11-11 The research articles mentioned on these pages can be accessed from within the Chalmers domain. If you have difficulty accessing any of them, please let me know.
2013-11-08 A near-final version of Practical 2 is available now.
2013-11-05 The Fire submission system has been activated. The deadline for the first assignment is 23:59 on Thursday 7 November.
2013-10-31 Later in this course you will find it useful to look at protein structures with molecular visualisation software. You might want to take a look at RasMol, UCSF Chimera, Jmol or PyMOL.
2013-10-31 A near-final version of Practical 1 is available now.
