You are involved in organising a scientific conference, and it has been decided that a relational database management system will be used to manage the conference data.
Your system must contain the information required to print the schedule (times, titles, presenters, etc.) for the conference, the delegates' badges and a list of delegates' contact details to be included in the conference booklet. It should also be used in printing invoices to be sent to delegates in advance. Invited speakers do not have to pay the 2000 SEK conference fee. Students pay a fee of 1000 SEK. Those who requested accommodation on their registration form will pay 500 SEK per night. As well as talks from invited speakers, the conference will also have a poster session.
Draw an entity-relationship diagram showing a conceptual model for the conference data. Explain the graphical notation used in your diagram.
Write SQL table creation statements based on your conceptual model. Write brief comments describing the design decisions that you have made.
Write SQL queries against your relational schema to answer the following queries:
Print the names of all of the speakers.
Print the names of all delegates who are (co-)presenting two or more posters at the conference.
Which institution(s) will be represented by the most delegates at the conference?
