Abstract

The purpose of this master thesis was to evaluate Handelsbanken´s Internet solution from a usability perspective. The underlying motivation is that the bank will give their active Internet users an opportunity to influence the development work with their design concept for a new Internet solution. Both design and functions are evaluated and focus is on user requirements with expectations of an intuitive web site. Two different kinds of evaluating methods, heuristic evaluations and usability testing, have been used and are described. The main result of the thesis is build from the usability test of the user opinions and their acts with task scenarios during the test. Apart from analysing, the result is a priority list over the requirements and expectations that the users have on an intuitive and useful solution for a web site.

The background to the purpose is that Handelsbanken are in a development phase where design, functions, and information at the existing web site is to be develop and become more useful to the users. The user opinions are therefore important to investigate early in the process before the new design concept is created.

The result of this report is a base for further works with the design development concept for Handelsbanken´s Internet solution. This report is a first investigation of the web site and where the users can affect the result of a new web site.
