The aim of this thesis is to explore how to entertain people while waiting at a
bus stop, by creating a number of design examples of applications for mobile
phones with camera functionality. All applications are based on the possibility
of sending photos from a phone to a server as MMS or attachments to e-mails.
The photos are analyzed and assessed in different ways, depending on the
specific application, and output is then generated.
The result contains of four implemented design examples;
• Storyteller – A collaborative story telling application.
• Mosaic – A collaborative photo puzzle where the participators decides
the look of the pieces.
• You’re so full of it – A statement game – true or false?
• Colorado – A photo competition where the participators have to take a
photo with the right average color.
The design examples are evaluated by theoretical analysis based on Game
Design Patterns, an analysis that evaluates to what degree the design examples
can stimulate social interaction between people at a bus stop.
Besides the implemented design examples, the result contains of a number
of thoughts and reflections concerning time as a central design parameter in
interaction design.
The thesis is written in Swedish.
