The purpose of this master thesis was to examine how a web edition
of a newspaper can be designed in order to support the advantages of
the Internet, i.e. interaction and participation of the readers, at the
same time as preserving the credibility from the newspaper. Focus is
on how the content should be presented and structured.
The background for the work was that the newspaper
Göteborgs-Posten is planning to redesign their web edition gp.se and
they wanted input for designing a new one. The aim with the work has
been to present gp.se a few design proposals for them to continue
work with.
These proposals have been developed through literature
studies, workshops and interviews with co-workers from gp.se. Out of
this material two design proposals were developed in order to user test
them. The outcome of the test results was a third design proposal,
which was presented to gp.se. In addition, a list of design
recommendations from a user perspective was given to them.
The thesis ends with a discussion about participation,
credibility and media.
