Today, when the computer technology makes its entry into even more areas, our relationship to it changes. It has gone from being considered only a tool that we use mainly at work during limited hours, to being nearly constantly present in our lives. Even in our homes there are several computer artefacts competing to catch our attention. It's about time to take a closer look at how we want this evolution to be continued. With an increasing number of so called "intelligent" products it is important that we design them after our premises - we control the products and not the other way around. In this thesis the possibilities of computer technology as a design material in interior design is discussed. This is done regarding the ability of the computer technology to create changes in the span of time. Studies of related work in the field have resulted in an idea concerning a new concept - Vivid Design. With Vivid Design as a starting point, three prototypes are presented, which enlightens the possibilities to use computer technology as a design material in contexts where aesthetics and expression are in focus rather than efficiency and utility.
