081128 Schedule-change. Feedback sessions for your essay are now scheduled on the upcoming Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. The sessions are 30 minutes (see schedule for times), and you can either book them via email or on the list I'll bring on Tuesday morning.
081126 So, I've been asked about the length of the essay. Since the important thing about the essay is that it is well-written, the length is of minor importance, say 2-10 pages. Check out the Project-page for a list of issues that you have to address in your essay.
081105 After a teacher's meeting we decided to inform all of the IxD-students what we consider to be cheating to avoid anyone doing this unintentionally. It can be summarized as: "Taking credit for someone else's work by not mentioning their contributions to a project, or by using someone else's ideas or work without their consent, or by referring to, quoting or closely paraphrasing someone else's text without indicating this is considered cheating, and it will be punished according to Chalmers' regulations."
Download the document "How to NOT cheat or plagiarize" (PDF 53 kb) and see clarifications and examples. Not that I am worried! :)081117 IMPORTANT changes. I) I've written a text to clarify a bit how I will reason when grading, see Project. II) I've added a third Portfolio Exercise. This does not mean that you have to do another exercises; it means that instead of having two mandatory Portfolio Exercises, you now have three, and you get to choose the two you want to carry out. The exercise file is not properly updated yet, so check out the NEW Portfolio Exercise: The Cube

081117 Schedule change: The oral "in or out" has bee removed from the course, instead you will do a homework called 3 Levels, which will be discussed on the 27/11.
081105 On exercise deadlines: Some of you have asked when the exercise deadline is. Well, altough the intention is that the scheduled time should be enough for you to complete the exercise, I know that som have to leave early sometimes etc, so I hereby decide that the deadline for an exercise is at 12.00 the following Friday - so that the people who are to give you feedback have some time to do that.
081105 The train tickets to Lund the 13th of November have been booked and the schedule looks as follows:
09.40 - 12.37 train ride Gbg - Lund. (Bring lunch!)
13.00 - ca 14.00 guided tour, Kulturen
15.00 - ca 16.30 guided tour, Museum of Sketches
17.00 - ca 18.00 dinner somewhere
18.22 - 21.15 train ride Lund - Gbg
081030 A note on your personal reflections. Even if I appreciate feedback on the course and lectures per se, I am trying to evaulate your learning process. And in order to do that I'm curious to see what new insights you get, and which issues are hard to understand. It's nice to hear that you appreciate a lecture, or a visit to a museum, but I want comments like "Today I realized that... I've never though of that before" and "I didn't really understand the discussion about...". Thanks!
081030 Minor schedule change. I've changed the order of exercises 3 and 4, so that no 3 is now "Designing for emotions" and No 4 is "Interaction Themes vs. Things"; I think it will result in a better transition from more industrial-design-ish tasks to more interaction design-ish tasks.
081030 I've put the first two lectures online for you to download, however unfortunately without most images, due to compyright issues (only a few are my own, or explicitly free to use).
Lecture 1: History of aesthetics, stripped [PDF, 287 kb]
Lecture 2: History of Industrial Design, stripped [PDF 913 kb]
081007 Website updated: better texts, updated some exercises, added literature questions and made a new page for orals. If you have cared to read the stuff carefully you will notice that the oral presentation is no longer part of examination. I have also booked group rooms Unix and Linux for exercise work and some lectures.
The first lecture will take place Tuesday the 28th of October at 09.00 sharp in room Steve Jobs, house Patricia, IT-University, Lindholmen. Welcome!
080925 Website updated with pages for literature, plus a better navigation structure and a clearer explanation of the portfolio.
0809?? Website online with lots of pages :)
