My tasks include developing tools, which are strongly connected to the game engine, so that level-designers, artists and others are able to produce game content faster and more easily. Game companies often have job vacancies listed on their websites and that is how I got my current position. I sent in an application, took a recruiting test and was then invited to their office in London for an on-site interview.

Many of the courses I'd taken in the Interaction Design program were interesting to my employer. They showed that I have a strong academic foundation to grow on. Even though we work in a completely different environment here than I did at school, the problem solving skills I learned at Chalmers allow me to adapt to new situations quickly.

I work with interaction design every day. This means I conduct target analysis, formulate interaction design solutions and carry out different types of evaluations. Since I started working I have developed my business mentality. It is not only about understanding the user and her needs, but also to create something that meets the expectations and goals that the company has for its IT investment. This means that I not only meet end-users, I also interact a lot with decision makers and representatives from the industry. In addition I perform tasks such as leading workshops, holding presentations and providing services on part of the company.

For a long time inUse had been one of my dream employers. When graduation was approaching, I called Ingrid at inUse, told her a bit about myself and what I could offer them. And that is pretty much how I got my first job after graduating.

When I applied for the Masterprogram Interaction Design, I already had a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Sciences. I felt I needed to complement my education with more practical experience, such as working with user-centered design processes. That way I could also gain the expereience which companies are asking for. Furthermore, the program gave me the possibility of working with design tools other than a computer and mouse, in conditions I never thought were possible. Moreover, I learned to work creatively without neglecting the theoretical foundations or forgetting the users and their needs.
