Research Project: Logical clocks and event ordering in distributed systems

Project description | Publications

Project description

For many distributed systems it is important to be able to determine the order or relationship between events occurring in the system. A logical clock algorithm can be used to get this information. Our research focuses on logical clock algorithms that approximately tracks the causal order and that use small timestamps and scale to large systems. See also the group's related projects on multipeer information dissemination and consistency support, resource allocation and sharing in network communication and collaborative environments and visualization.

Slides from ICDCS 2004 presentation.

Some additional simulation results for the "Adaptive Plausible Clocks" paper can be found here.

More information will be added as this project progresses.
