The next standard release of the Java programming language, JDK 1.5.0, will contain implementations of data structures based on principles from a lock-free concurrent algorithm of skip lists first published by Sundell and Tsigas in 2003. These new high-performance data structures are going to be part of the Java.util.concurrent package.
Java is nowadays ranked as the most popular programming language, having almost 1/6th part of the market, which is slightly more than the highly popular languages C and C++.
